It was only 30 minutes before the end of a glorious black tie wedding reception. The 300 guests of the host were all thoroughly impressed by their experience. The staff were getting into gear to close everything down when I was summoned to the father of the bride; we will call him George.
George was one of those hosts who didn't become a member of the club, but instead found a distant contact who was willing to sponsor his daughter's big day. It is not unusual for these type of events to be full misguided individuals who have little or no experience on how to behave in a club setting. They can tend to either misbehave or feel the need to belittle the employees of the club!
As I approached George, I motioned to shake his hand and introduced myself. After not taking my hand it rapidly became apparent he was rather inebriated and was swaying badly. He was a tall and imposing man who leaned over to bellow to me over the DJ.... "YOU F##KED UP!" "OH!" I replied "How can I help?" keeping my cool.
He then managed to slur his way through trying to tell me about how we should have placed out a dozen disposable cameras on the dinner tables earlier in the night, to capture the open mouthed food eating memories! These were the cameras that were hidden below a bunch of other items in boxes that we were never told about; but now I knew.
George then told me again that I f##ked up and that was all. He then waved me away and told me I should f##k off now!
At this point I could try to argue with this drunk, irritated and misinformed man or I could just take the verbal abuse and move on. I chose the latter option and took comfort in the fact that soon after I tallied his bill, scrutinizing every expense... NOW WHO F##KED UP!
